Removal of tank pad

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MV Agusta F4 : One Thread

Has anyone been able to remove the protective tank pad that comes standard on the 2003 F4S without damaging the finish? Does the Special Parts carbon fiber tank you can buy come with a tank pad already on it too?

Use a hairdryer at highest setting for a few min, then peel it off. I did this when i had to repaint my tank. The cf tank does not come with one. I would reccoment leaving it on though becuase the shape of the MV's tank lends itself to easy scratching..

Thanks for the help. It came off easily. Most of the glue stayed until it was removed by some Tar & Sticker remover from the auto store. I plan on getting some that removable clear plastic from Lockhart Phillips to help prevent scratches on longer trips.
