5A Microswitches

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Wiring for DCC : One Thread

I am going to power the frog on many of many turnouts using groundthrows. Does it matter how long the lever is on the 5A Microswitch. This is for HO...I was going to go with 1/2" levers. Before I dropped 80 bucks I wanted to know if this would be too short, long, etc.

Thanks Rob

I use the 1/2" long levers.

I assume you are referring to my suggestion in my webpage. I looked at the way mine are mounted. If you used the longer levered micro switches, they would be too long for the way I mount them and would hit the bottom of the layout.

You could still use the longer handled microswitches if you used a bigger block of wood.

Hey, you can always make the lever shorter with a pair of side cutters! But if the lever is too short... Most of them are relatively thin metal and can be carefuly bent to any reasonable shape by using 2 needle nose pliers.
