Gay Marriage

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Catholic : One Thread

If Massachusetts thinks that it can allow homosexual marriage, what is there to stop if from allowing incest or pedophilia or polygamy? This is based on the fact that homosexuals should be allowed to marry because they love each other and are committed. So then shouldn't a brother and sister be allowed to marry because they "love each other?" Couldn't there be a three way marriage if a man loves two women and the women love each other?

The courts aren't just making a moral mistake. They are also making a legal mistake. They are going to open up the flood gates for anyone who wants to marry, to get married.

Laws that are not rooted in Natural Law are moral waistelands that eventually lead to anarchy. We have seen this over and over again these last decades. Not sure why the US would want to go in that direction.

Scott, what problem do you have with monogamy??? LOL!

So I don't have to go to confession to confess my monogomy?

That's OK, Scott, we all make mistakes. Even Ed and Sara ;)

Bill, if I can speak for Sara as well, we were both just teasing Scott. We meant no harm. We've made similar mistakes here in the forum.

Scott, did you mean to say "polygamy"? If so, I would be more than happy to make any corrections you like if you send me the necessary info by email

We certainly do, Bill :-;

Ronald,
Are you saying that if you want it bad enough an immortal soul will spontaniously appear in an animal?

It is absolutely true. It is also true that the same argument was made in the 1930's when contraception started making its way in. They said, if we allow contraception next thing you know people will be having kids out of marriage and will think sodomy is okay. That has proven true! In the end it all goes back to this fundamental issue: once you accept contraception - any hole will do. (sorry about the crudeness of it). My point is that this is not where the issue ends or begins. This isn't the start of a slippery slope, we are already covered in grease and halfway down the hill.
