BUT Bill, when are our BISHOPS and PRIESTS going to speak out from the PULPITS that reach the audiemce that needs it the most? They appear to be afrsid to tackle it and prefer to remain "politically correct".

And now I read in the Reading Eagle newspaper this am that a PENNSYLVANIA STATE UNIVERSITY in KUTZTOWN PA is recognizing GAY UNIONS for BENEFITS on their faculty.

ROME BURNS AGAIN IN THR USA !!!!

(Chicago) -- You can count Francis Cardinal George among those who support President Bush's proposed constitutional amendment against same-sex marriage.

Those who support same-sex marriage and oppose the proposed amendment say it's a matter of human rights. Cardinal George disagrees.

"Rights talk is only a couple off centuries old. Marriage is immemorial," the Cardinal said.

He does not see the issue as a Christian or religious one. He said most civilizations have recognized marriage as the union of a man and a woman:

"To make it a religious issue is to play on anti-religious sentiment. They'll say, 'Aha! See, the sectarians are trying to force their views on all the rest of us.' This isn't my view on marriage or the Catholic view on marriage," George said. "It's the view of the human race, with a few exceptions."

The cardinal said the laws on marriage are substantially the same in Communist China, largely Hindu India, and largely Buddhist Sri Lanka as they are here.

The nation's Catholic bishops have not taken a formal position on the proposed amendment, although Cardinal George expects them to look closely at it.
