Bush Appoints More Pro-Life Bioethics Council Members, Kerry Criticizes

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- President Bush has removed two members from his bioethics council who had been among the more outspoken advocates of destructive embryonic stem cell research. In their place, Bush has appointed three new members -- all of whom take a more pro-life view regarding the controversial research that destroys human embryos for their stem cells.

The changes immediately drew opposition from pro-abortion presidential candidate John Kerry, a Massachusetts senator.

I read your post about destructive stem cell research and I was wondering if I am wrong for hoping they continue the research so they can find a cure of parkinson's disease. My father has parkinson's and now there are a lot os signs pointing toward it being geneitc. I would love for him to be cured, but I fear it is probably too late for him. I is just a sadd thing to watch someone go through and to think there is a possible cure around the corner is amazing news. Is it such a bad thing if so many people could be cured from it's results.

I guess I'm just confused. I am against abortion of all types and thrilled to see the changes being made. I would just hope we could somehow find a way (maybe another way) to cure some of these diseases that we are so close to curing.

Your thought would be appreciated.

Jason,

There is hope in other means. Embrionic stem cells have not yet yeilded a single successful result while adult stem cell research has.

Interestingly enough, Parkinson's is the same disease that the Pope has. I would love to see a cure for the Holy Father (and your father), miraculous or medical, but the Pope himself has been very clear that if it means murdering untold numbers of human beings then - no way.

I pray for you, your father, the Pope, and for adult stem cell researches.

Jason,
You can get stem cells by other means other than creating a tiny human being and killing it. For example, you can obtain human stem cells from umbilical cords.
