On MOTIVATION: What psychologist explained motivatiion in levels the highest level being, for the good of mankind (or something like that) Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, I think no existing 'general-introductory' textbook, or "Motivation" text answers the question asked. All of the well recognized motivation theories (including Maslow's) fall flat in describing specifically human motivational phenomena because they either reduce it to animal needs (drives) or are too individualistic.
