A very strange article. It certainly wasn't written from a Catholic perspective. Still, it's an interesting and positive turn of events.

Re: contraceptives--one notes that if the number of sexually active students decreases, then the percentage of sexually active condom users will rise, even if the actual number stayed the same.

So the "soaring" of contraceptive usage is probably not nearly as dramatic as the author says it is.

In fact, the data could be compatible with the theory that contraceptives establish a false sense of security among sexually active students. They may likely remain sexually active so long as they believe they're 'safe'.

I think if it is the guys not fooling around as much, it's because of girls and their families more actively pursuing child support these days, unless they dislike the fellow so much that they allow him to get out of support by signing away all his parental rights (which hurts the child more than the mother, imho). Used to be girls would not readily admit the other responsible party in the pregnancy due to shame. Thankfully that has changed, and they should actually be forced to reveal who the responsible party is before receiving any state aid.

I'm glad there is less teenage pregnancy, even if the reasons are not altogether morality- based.
