Would like to find a good used recreational scull. I live in Florida. Am willing to travel the state to pick up. Thanks.

Diane, I do not have a scull for sale, but managed to pick up a thread of your conversation from Dec. 2003. You were asking for help in finding clubs, etc. I read about a club in the Vero Beach area and wanted to check it out, but have not been able to find anything on line and don't have a phone number. How did your search turn out? Did you run across any clubs in the Vero-Jupiter area? I am a complete novice and over 50. Would also like to get my 30 year old daughter involved. Would love to hear from you if you have any info. Thanks.

Diane- I have an older Alden Ocean Shell in Lake Worth, FL. It is in good shape except for the wooden oars, which could be epoxied, I believe. Has the older Oarmaster. Boat has suffered mostly from storage, not from use. $900. Can do some e-mailable pics if you like. John

You might want to consider a Merry Wherry from Wayland Marine, in Bellingham, WA. Ron Mueller has designed a very light, strong, wood/epoxy boat that rows beautifully with a sliding seat RowWing installed. The boat is 15' long, weighs 35 lbs plus the 20lb RowWing, and has a capacity of 300 lbs. The boats are available as kits from Wayland, and if you are interested in one as a completed boat, I am building them to order. My company is TaliesinWorks! Canada Ltd., and would be happy to discuss the Merry Wherrys with you. Go to the the Wayland Marine website to see the boats: www.merrywherry.com, then email me with your impressions.
