Fasting

I greet you all in the name of Jesus

It has been a while since I have asked a question on here, but I have just now began to embark on a new journey of fasting. I have completed a few 24 hour fasts, but I have also failed on several attempts as well. I know that I am supposed to offer unto God a full and sufficient sacrifice so the failed attempts really get me down. What I need to know is, when I fast. What am I to do during that time. I mean, I do my normal daily routine, but do I pray during my whole down time, read my bible during that time? I don't know. I want my fasts to be sufficient and intimate with the Master so this is very important to me.

Hello Cory,

Normally, I fast on Sundays so that I can completely focus on spiritual matters. I encourage everybody to try it even if you can only fast from one meal. I believe that God knows our hearts and true motivation for fasting. I have also learned that one needs to pray before the fast begins and during the fast. I have learned to pray during the time, one would normally eat. Also, during the course of the day get your hymn book and sing. Read the scriptures and meditate. After the fast, eat a light meal not involving meats because otherwise, it may upset your stomach. I have found that the day after the fast, I feel spiritually empowered and physically stronger. I have also noticed that even water taste better. I will also receive a message from the Lord. It may be something simple like " There is no reason for you to doubt that God will ever fail you." or " Can you think of any time that God has failed you?"

Fasting gives us inner spiritual strength and discernment over our 3 main enemies. Our flesh, this world, and satan. I think that my flesh is actually the worse enemy of the three to me. Fasting also helps to break the bond to this world and set our sights on God's eternal matters. It also makes us more sensitive to the voice of the Holy Spirit and the insidious attacks of satan.

When I find myself feeling fearful, I plan to fast because I know that my soul is being attacked by the enemy. God does not want us to fear anyone but Him. I thank God for giving you the desire to fast and I am going to pray for you to continue fasting.

This is the best time to fast. I to am on a fast, and needed to read your experience. I will pray for you. I find that doing anything else helps. Reading scripture helps; for me, most of all. God bless you. Sista Felicia

Jesus taught us to not let anyone know or make a bigh thing out of our fasting. It should be a private thing between you and God. Go about your daily business; ask God for wisdom; make your requests known to Him.

Be blessed
