What are you wearing right now?!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Beyond the Sidewalks : One Thread

Okay, here's a fun one! What are you wearing RIGHT NOW? This is a come-as-you-are invitation! (I think we need some levity right now).

I'll start:

I'm wearing dark green sweatpants with torn pockets, black cotton socks, and a fleece top with long sleeves and collar (and zippered neck) that has a Diamond River Adventures logo on the chest. I'm also wearing my trendy thick-framed Calvin Klein spectacles (in dark red), my watch, wedding ring, and some misc. u-wear! A minute ago I was wearing shearling slippers (which I kicked off b/c my feet were cookin'!). What a slob, eh?!!!

Be honest! This could be fun!

A pale green cotton nighty with lacy trim and little rosebuds. Of course, I'll have to kill you if you tell anyone else....

Just off work and heading for the sack; at which point, I'll be wearing skin. (There - that oughta scare heck out of everyone!)

Gee Sheepish!! That opening statement sounded like one of "those" phone calls...you know, with the heavy breathing and all :-)!!??

Okay, I'll play along...I'm wearing my usual blue jeans (that are sporting a couple of bleach spots from washing out goat's milk bottles), a black sweatshirt that says "Carquest Racing" on the front, white "whoopee" socks and a pair of really really holey sneakers that I just bum around in the house with (in case I step in an unseen hairball!!). Other than some tiny ear rings (have to wear something to keep the holes from closing up!) no other jewelry for me...unless I'm going out somewhere, in which case I'll wear my watch. Oh yeah...NO underwear!! You asked for honesty, Sheepish :-)!!!!

Polly...doesn't everyone sleep "in the buff"??!! It's the only way to be truly comfortable!

-- Anonymous, March 18, 2004

What fashion mavens we are!

What is it, the HouseFly website that says one should wear shoes all day? Bwahahahahahaha......

C'mon...I wanna know what the guys are wearing, too!

-- Anonymous, March 18, 2004

Okay, I'm back up now and ready to join the fashion parade. Black sweat pants, grey sweatshirt with Goofy on it, cheapo slip on sneakers that were white once upon a time. Nope, no drawers. Don't wear 'em unless I'm going somewhere or the monthly madness is upon me. Altho, I did just find some of those ones with legs in a catalog Pop got in the mail that I'm thinking about ordering.

Marcia - nope, not everyone! Hubs wears underwear, fleece sleep shorts, a tee-shirt and sometimes socks to bed. I wouldn't get a lick of sleep if I had all that stuff wadded up around me and strangling me. The only time I wear sleepwear is at other peoples houses or motels.

The guys - well, Hubs is wearing socks, boxer briefs, jeans, motocross tee-shirt and a plain sweatshirt, work boots. Pop is in socks, boxers, jeans, tee shirt, blue plaid woven shirt and grey cardigan sweater, and sneakers. They both get dressed every morning like they are going to go do something. Me, sweatpants and sweatshirt in the winter, or a pullover dress or jumper in the summer UNLESS I'm going to go do something.

Okay, Polly...you just reminded me! Sometimes, on a REALLY cold winter's nite, I will wear socks to bed. Harry gets kinda P.O.'d if I try warm my feet up on his....whatever is within reach :-)!!

Where is everyone? No one wants to confess what they do...or do not wear??!!

-- Anonymous, March 18, 2004

I guess I'll confess........ Right now I have on NOTHING!!!!! LOL It's late decieded to check email so came in after I got ready for bed, yeap that's right I sleep in the buff. Hubby never would before he met me but now that's how he sleeps also!!!

I might have a big bodacious body but I'm pretty comfortable with me so what the hey!! I also vacuum in the nude also!! That was pretty funny when Dear step-daughter first moved into the house now she likes to walk around nude when her Dad and I aren't home!!!

You guys are great!!! ROFL.

I'm wearing the same thing! (okay, I now have on *black* fleece pants instead of green, and different black socks).

Mr. S. is wearing blue Wrangler boot cut jeans, a navy crew-neck sweatshirt, white boot socks, cool spectacles (like Johnny Depp has these days), and our big Himalayan cat on his lap (I'm not sure what underwear he has on.. I'll have to check!). He has a heavy Navajo silver bracelet on and probably his wedding ring (can't see his hand). His watch is in the shop. I think he is also wearing a bunch of hair thickener stuff or something, too (or else just grease!).

Gotta watch Gonzaga on teevee now....

Anyone else?

This thread is a stitch!! Who woulda guessed? Sandy, really; vacuuming in the nude? Too funny! I don't do anything in the nude anymore, except shower, and once in awhile in the summer I do remove pj's if I wake up in a sweat. I'm usually cold though, so sox are required 24/7 until it gets good and hot. I can't imagine not wearing underwear; sounds pretty gross to me. LOL. I never wear a bra around the house though, and hardly ever wore one on the farm at all, but I ain't gonna go floppin around now that I'm in town. What other secrets have you guys been hiding? ;)

What are you wearing? I'm still cracking up at the title of this thread, sheepish!

Actually I'm dressed pretty fancy today; had to make several sample deliveries, so have to look presentable. A beautiful Scandinavian wool sweater with black turtleneck beneath, newish black flared jeans, and black boots, sterling peace symbol earrings.

I have lived in jeans 99% of the time since my early 20's. Nowadays when I get home from work I ususally change into my pj's or sweats before I walk a mile on the treadmill, put on my robe and then have dinner and relax with a movie/and or book before bed.

Heepish, too funny. Getting way more information than I really need though. Aren't we glad that we're not on reality T.V.?

When you posted, I was sitting at the computer wearing boxer shorts, sleeveless cotton undershirt (not a sleeveless T-shirt but the type that the old men use to wear, don't even know if they still make them) with suspenders. Waist band in the boxers was a little loose. Black nylon socks with hose supports and sandals. Oh, and a ball cap to cut down on the glare from the overhead light. Normally, I wear the same thing during the day, except the suspenders are on the outside, holding up the pants. I bought bigger pants but they're shrinking too, only at a slower rate.

I'm with EM on the sock wearing to bed thing. Hate cold feet when I go to bed. I'd use the heating pad on the feet to warm them up but it's busy laying on my back to ease the back pain. Guess an electric blanket would be a plus but I'm just not comfortable with them.

Lately, I've been wearing coveralls, during the day, so I'll fit in with the locals. Actually, I'm finding out that they're pretty comfortable and I'm beginning to like them even though I'm not fitting it with the locals too well. I did quit wearing the silk shirts with them and started wearing long johns and a cotton long sleeve shirt and I seem to be getting a better reaction from the coffee club members at the service station in the mornings. Don't know if it was the long johns or the straw hat though.

Wildman, Wildman, Wildman....

Must we take charge of your wardrobe?! One simply doesn't wear a straw hat until Easter (or white shoes, or dotted fabric either). Actually, some areas of the country say that you must wait until after Memorial Day for the straw hats and white shoes; but around here, we drag out our finery for Easter.

Perhaps a nice black or plaid sheepskin lined Elmer Fudd hat would set you right with the local yokels.

(I'm not saying anything about the wife-beater undershirt.)

EM you should try vacuuming in the nude!!! I love no clothes except when it's realllllly cold. In the winter I do wear socks to bed!!! LOL and that's it!!!!!

I do dress to go outside! except before I got married.I lived out in my parents garage that they added on too. I had everything but a shower so I would have to take a shower at my Moms. Half the time I would forget my night gown so I would tell my parents watch out coming through nude and take off out the back door walk to my house. Of course we are off the road a piece and it would be dark but hey if someone came up they would get a pretty sight (well maybe pretty scarey!!)

This is so funny!! What are ya'll wearing now????

Tan cotton knit ankle length pullover dress with red and blue flowers, half slip, underpants. Shoes (tan slip on sneaks) got kicked off as soon as I got in the door; lab coat followed shortly thereafter. If I wasn't headed to bed directly, I'd be pulling on a "farm" dress because it's really nice outside - now that the thunderstorm has passed over. I figure it's about at Sherrie's house by now.

Not to wander too far from clothing....but do you ever wonder if the Gods are smiling on you? I was sitting in report up to 7:30 this morning, watching the storm outside the west window - lightning, pouring rain, dark, billowing clouds - thinking "Oh yay. I parked way the hell out in the parking lot last night. Yippee. Didn't wear a coat. Wahoo. Grrrrr." I walk out of the building 5 minutes later and the storm is over, the sky is a light pleasant grey, no thunder, no lightning... Parking lot is to the north; I was kind of scared to look over to the west!!! Anyway, I sent a "Hey, wow - nice work - thanks!" floating aloft, and motored on home to do my chores with just a few puddles to step in rather than the drenching I had been expecting.

Life is good!

You are all WAAAAAAYYYY too funny!!!!

Hey, Wildman, are those tee shirts the ones with the straps? Mr. S wears those in the summer. He says they are hard to find in stores anymore. Do you get yours at Penneys?

I'm now wearing the cat (he's on my lap with his head resting on the desk). I've also really spiffed up my customary outfit: under the fleece top, I'm sporting a 15-year-old Ralph Lauren pink turtleneck (sorry, you can't see the polo logo underneath). The cuffs are really frayed, and you *can* see those. I have on tan socks, slipped casually into those lovely fleece slippers I told y'all about. And I think I've accessorized the fleece pants with a new textured look, owing to the cat having been parking himself on my lap frequently of late.

Wardrobe on!

Well...right now I'm here in my bathrobe (nude underneath!) and slippers!! It's only 6:30 p.m. but it's been a lllooonnnggg and busy day :-)! After I pour myself a "short" drink and have something to eat, I doubt if I'll be awake very long!

Ya know, even though I might sleep in the nude, the only housework I do in the nude is clean the bathroom...usually right after I get out of the tub!! My MIL has a habit of just walking right in the house so I don't dare vacuum in the nude...I'd never hear her sneak up on me. Besides, several years ago I was dusting (in the nude) and I leaned over the wood cookstove to dust off the warming shelf. BAD idea!! I learned very quickly that "things" that are old and saggy WILL burn!!!!

So...I guess it took a discussion about doing housework in the nude to bring Wildman out again :-)!!

This is alot of fun!!!

Polly, and all this time, I thought they were laughing WITH me! Just wait until I tell them about the Memorial Day rule! Won't they be surprised? These hicks wear straw hats all year long around here. I've been thinking it over and I think part of the problem might be the bib overalls that I made into a kinda Bermuda short thing. That and the knee high red socks and the white bucks might be what sets them off. At least they have a sense of humor up here.

I had a pair of white bucks in high school and never could figure out when to wear them. If I wore them, nobody else was that day and when I didn't wear them, everyone else was. I was out of the loop back then too.

Sheepish, those are the ones. I don't buy them anymore. These are 50's vintage. More holes than knit! They look great if you're muscle bound. I think they make me look better than the regular T-shirts. They don't accentuate the pot belly as much.

Marcia, I hadn't thought about it but you may be right. There's something about nudity that brings out the best in me. Get it? Hee, hee. I crack myself up sometimes without even trying.

I think this thread interested me because it'll make great fodder if any of you ever run for public office!

Wildman, (into nudity)

The other night I tried to contribute but it wouldn't let me. Server was too busy. Then I had on sweats, Disney top. Tonight I'm wearing my regular jeans, long sleeve purple top and socks.

I'm always cold when I go to bed at night. I will have on flannels, socks and pile on blankets. I even woke Glenn up the other night because I couldn't get warm and he is like a furnace so I snuggled. During the night I will start throwing layers off because I'll be soaking wet from sweat. (Some hot flashes are starting there too, I think)

-- Anonymous, March 21, 2004

Hmmm. I can't imagine doing any activities in the nude (well, okay, a *couple* of activities, one involving bathing!). Don't you folks get cold? I don't even get warm enough on the treadmill to exercise in the nude! Do you folks have central heating? (I'm jealous!).

Today was in the low 70s (yeah, unusual for here!), so I switched to sweatpants and a t-shirt, no socks. But hey, I still have the fleece slippers on...probably have to add the fleece top pretty soon.

-- Anonymous, March 21, 2004

Today I have to look just a wee bit "dressier". Stil wearing blue jeans, but I'm wearing a long-sleeved purple fleece top instead of my customary sweatshirt or t-shirt!! Oh yeah...wearing underwear today for a change! You and I, Dee, are both purple people today :-)! My big sis is supposed to drop in for a visit. She's come up from Cape Cod to visit her son & family in Southwest Harbor. Usually she doesn't have time for me...but she wants to stop in this time! Haven't seen her in over a year.

Sheepish...no central heating here for us. I usually like to clean the bathroom in the nude 'cause I do it right after I've gotten out of a HOT bath. I hate to put anything on when I'm already overheated!! I wonder if we're all giving out way too much info on this thread. Don't tell him...but I think Wildman is gonna blackmail one of us in the future :-)!!!!

-- Anonymous, March 22, 2004

Yeah, we have central heating, but I've slept nude since I was 18. The house I grew up in had a wall furnace; then a wood stove with squirrel cage blower and a little fan up in the corner of one doorway to help move the warm air. The first house I lived in after I moved away from "home" had a wood furnace in the basement with a grate in the living room. The second had a frigging heat pump - I like to froze to death everywhere BUT when I was in bed. Third house was the 2 story, 24x32 garage we lived in while building the "real house" - it had a kerosene heater; and then the "real house" had a wood furnace. Then, back to the home place - wood burner (same one); then living in the shed and camper (no heat, but it was May-October) while the new house was being put up. It has central heat; and we keep it pretty warm because of Pop (74-74, depending on the wind direction and outside temp - it's actually colder in here when the temp is about 40* outside!)

I actually stay both warmer and cooler when I sleep nude - it allows your body to regulate your temp much better. Right under your right boob area is your liver, which is the warmest place on your body - you cover that up and the heat it produces stays under your shirt and makes you sweaty, while your toes, which could use the heat, freeze. Once your bedclothes get sweaty, you get colder - cold and wet feels colder than cold and dry.

In the unheated bedrooms in really cold weather, I used to heat up bricks next to the stove and slip them in quilted sacks and pop them in the beds shortly before we'd climb in - they'd radiate enough heat to keep away the shivers until the body took over.

Some tricks I learned - flannel sheets and thermal blankets under a puffy comforter or feather bed are warmest. Putting a dust ruffle on the bed, or putting plastic between the mattress and bedsprings blocks cold air from the bottom up. A feather bed on top and bottom will keep you warmer than almost anything else. Put your robe, or whatever you put on when you get up in between your blanket and quilt - it will be nice and warm to put on.

-- Anonymous, March 22, 2004

Polly, I have flannel sheets, plus a very warm down comforter, an "egg-crate" mattress on top of the regular kind, a long-haired cat who likes to cuddle, and a large, warm husband (he does too). I alternate between freezing and frying all night. Can this marriage be saved???? Some nights I crawl into bed wearing a sweatshirt! Other nights, I wish I could peel off my skin!!! Can I do anything to make my liver happier? I mean, I do try to feed it beer on a somewhat regular basis! Should I keep it warm or cool it off? What's a gal to do?

Now wearing the same t-shirt, sweatpants, and no socks or slippers (hey, it's *spring*....),

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2004

Marcia, I would never blackmail anyone for not wearing underwear (I almost spelt that underware. Freud?) or running around naked. Unless it benefited me in some way!

My major problem with women not wearing underwear is that once you look up their dress with the little mirror on your shoes, there's nothing to look forward to, next time. Come on, I'm not the only one that still has a mirror on the toe of his shoe, am I? God, I probably am! The rest are probably using those little digital spy cams. I'm so far behind that I'll never catch up.

Wildman, (behind the times)

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2004

Wildman...I NEVER wear dresses :-)!!!

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2004

Hee-hee - I almost always do!

Right now, I'm wearing jammies and Ben Gay. Too much "Spring", I think! Just got back from town with Pop - had to go get chicken wire. There are entirely too many people in Effingham, IL; and way too many of those folks were shopping at Menards. And Wal-Mart, where we didn't go, but had to drive by. Down with town!!

But I'm fine now. Really.

-- Anonymous, March 23, 2004

I'm boring, I'm wearing a pair of corduroy knit pants (denim blue), a "winter" long-sleeved T-shirt (charcoal grey), heavy cotton socks (black), and moccasin (brown dearskin) -- which may get kicked off if I get hot, or replaced with warm slippers if I get cold. If I'd been reading this in the morning, I would have been wearing a calf length sleep T and a velour robe and slippers. Oh yeah, my glasses are off (coz I'm near-sighted), and I have on my watch and a couple of clips in my hair and ordinary undies. Like I said, boring!

I guess that answers what I sleep in too, a sleep T, length and sleeves varying by the temperature outside. I have 100% cotton sheets, a cotton thermal blanket, and a light cotton spread on top of that. I have a cotton "lap quilt" at the ready should I get too chilly, and in the coldest part of winter, I might put on cotton socks. I have a fine balance between temperatures. I prefer to sleep in a cooler room, and pile on (or throw off) covers as needed. But I can't let the house get too cold because of the birds. I have all the heat vents shut in my bedroom, and it does get down to about 64*F in the dead of winter. Oh yeah, I sleep with a pillow between my knees at the direction of my chiropractor, and believe me, that makes you a lot warmer! Currently, it's a feather pillow. I switch to a fiberfill pillow in the summer.

I can't stand to use polar fleece blankets, I just get too hot!

In the summer, when it's hot (can't set the A/C too low either, coz of birds), I often fill a "hot" water bottle with the coldest water I can run up, or sometimes water from the fridge. I take that to bed with me, and it helps me cool off.

Part of the reason I wear "night clothes" is it's too dang cold when I get out of bed!

Been living in my jammies since yesterday afternoon; had two molars extracted yesterday morning. Was supposed to go in Friday but I couldnt stand the pain so went in early. Now I have pain, but not that throbbing agony all the way up to my eyeball. I may get dressed and go in to the shop for awhile tomorrow; see how I feel in the morning. This morning I was very dizzy when I got out of bed, so went back and layed down basically all day. And didnt even feel guilty! I got to read a mystery, did crosswords, watched some tv, and got waited on by my sweet daughters!

-- Anonymous, March 24, 2004

Nothing worse than tooth extractions!! Please take care, E.M. and let your daughters take care of YOU!!!! That's an ORDER!!

-- Anonymous, March 24, 2004

Hope you're feeling up to par soonest, EM!

-- Anonymous, March 24, 2004

Yeah, please get well soon! No matter what you are wearing...

-- Anonymous, March 25, 2004

Thanks for all the good thoughts, you sweet thangs! (still in my jammies.)

-- Anonymous, March 25, 2004

I'm wearing an XL green sweatshirt that I stole from Keith, gray sweatpants with a rip in the inseam so big that they're almost crotchless, blue knit slippers. No bra, yes panties. :)

I usually sleep in just my panties unless I'm away from home or home by myself. Then I wear an oversized Tshirt and shorts.
