In Praise of Local Yahoo Type Groups

My Good friend at Tabletop homestead had a brilliant idea a couple of years ago. She started a yahoogroup for homesteaders in our particular state. She had another group that we were both members of before, but she had to be offline awhile to build her beautiful homestead, and that group went belly-up from internal difficulties. Anyway Judy started our homesteading group for Oklahoma Homesteaders, called NewOkiePioneers. This group has turned out to be not only a wonderful place to just chat online, it has given each of us the chance to get to know others in our state who are doing what we are doing. I have so enjoyed meeting the members of our group. Some of them have become my very good friends. Some of them I am just getting to know, and some I haven't met yet, but am hoping to. We have had so much fun looking at each others homesteads, trading farmstuffs, and finding a source of encouragment through seeing that we really aren't the only one with a certain farm problem we are having trouble solving! I encourage those on this board from other states to start your own local yahoogroup, and if you are planning on moving to, or live in Oklahoma drop on by NewOkiePioneers. You'll be glad you did.
