DH121 - speed steps

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Wiring for DCC : One Thread

Hi

I have an Empire Builder set (Digitrax of course) and so far only one decoder equipped loco (that being a DH121). I have recently found out from Digitrax customer support that to activate the speed table, and Vmax and Vmid, that is to say to make CVs 5 and 6 activate i had to status edit the system to 28speed steps. This i did. Now on my throttle, the %speed jumps 3 steps every turn of the knob. However, nothing happens until i reach the fourth speed step (ie 12% speed). Prior to status editing, i had set up CV2 to some value so that as soon as I got to speed step 1, the loco was moving. Now, no matter what value i have in CV2, nothing happens until i reach the 4th speed step. If CV2 is set to 100, then the loco just takes off, if set to 5, then it crawls. How can i get those 3 lost speed steps back (that is how do i get the loco moving at the first speed step)?

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

If your sequence description is correct, you still have the speed table activated but you want to use CVs 5 & 6. You need to de- activate the speed table so that CVs 2, 5 & 6 describe the speed profile.
