Hello people , I've got a question , I put it here at this forum !! What I don't understand , why religious channels are always FTA (Free To Air) ?? Why they are not encrypted , how do they get their money , like Pay-TV , such as DirecTV , they offer them for free !! But a lot of The News channels are encrypted , I don't get it !! I have no idea what you mean by "encrypted", but I would imagine that such religious programming gets their cash from the people who watch and send in money.

Yes. The radio term would be "listener supported." Most tv stations hold some kind of telethon to raise money for the next year. Some have this only once a year, others more often. I worked for Daystar Television checking voice messages during "Share-a-thong." Some viewers send in OTG (One Time Gift) pledges, others pledge a certain amount per month.

Rod , encryption: via satellite , at a lot of the TV- & sometimes Radio Channels , you will need a subscription to watch/listen them !!

As I wrote , News Channels are necessary , free information !!

What about the First Amendment issues ??

I only watch FTA , I've got choice enough , I don't watch that much , but .... !! __ Commercial TV , most of these channel , I don't care , I've got no interests in them !! __ Also channels like EWTN , CTV , 3ABN , TBN , etc , they are not my kind of TV , so , I never watch !!

The only show that captivates me is "CSI", but not the Miami show. Public Broadcast S. are fascinating.
