Please pray for my friend Lana who is becoming Catholic that she might overcome the bad inflences and obstacles. I pray that she will grow more in faith and closer to the Church. God bless

What I wonderful prayer request! I said a prayer for her. I am a Protestant myself, and I hope to become Catholic in the near future. You may want to suggest to Lana that she come to this board and post any questions or concerns she has about the Catholic faith. There are many wonderful people here who could help her get a better understanding, and perhaps help her overcome some of the obstacles she may have toward the Catholic faith.

Lana; you'll be most welcome in the Catholic Church. Through this Catholic forum we have seen in the past many other non-Catholics find their way into the Catholic Faith. I thank the Lord for it and pray that many more people will come to this site and eventually to become Catholics.

Tengo que esperar hasta es posible tomar clases de RCIA. Es posible que podria tomar las este verano si puedo encontrar un maestro/a para clases individuales. Si no puedo hacerlo, voy a universidad para estudios graduate (?) en el otono, donde tienen un centro de Newman que ofreza clases. Absolutamente, voy a decirles cuando el dia viene. (Lo siento si mi espanol no es tan bueno - soy estudiante de la lengua y pense que puedo tomar este oportunidad para practicar. Pero hace mucho tiempo que practique. Un dia, quiero ser fluida en la lengua, tal vez para vivar y trabajar con hermanas en latinoamerica.) Gracias para sus oraciones. Dios le bendiga.

I have to wait until it's possible to take RCIA classes. It's possible that I might be able to take them this summer, if I can find a teacher that does individual classes. If I can't do that, I'm going to graduate school in the fall, where they have a Newman center that I think offers classes. Absolutely, I'm going to tell you all when the day comes. I'm sorry if my Spanish isn't that great - I'm a student of the language and I thought I'd take this opportunity to practice. But it's been a long time since I practiced. Some day, I want to be fluent in the language, perhaps to live and work with sisters in Latin America.) Thanks for your prayers. God bless you.

Emily: this is good news. Let's hope that you find a good teacher that not only teaches you theoretically what Catholicism is all about, but also teaches you with his (her) testimony what a glorious feeling it is to live as Catholic. Of course it is much more than a feeling, it is a living experience of God's presence in your life, of Christ's grace and salvation at your hand, of the loving presence of Our Blessed Mother and so many other wonderful things, that it would take a long long time to tell you about.

Estudie and Costa Rica por un semestre de universidad, y en el semestre, fuimos a Nicaragua y Guatemala tambien. Otra vez, fui a Mexico por un mes para trabajar en un orfanatorio. De esos lugares, mis pais favorito es Costa Rica porque el tiempo alli es perfecto (en mi opinion). Si no te importa que hay mucha lluvia en la estacion de lluvia, puede ser un lugar muy hermosa para vivir. ?Que piensas?

Where are you from (which country)?

I studied in Costa Rica for a semester of college, and in that semester, we also went to Nicaragua and Guatemala. Another time, I went to Mexico for a month to work at an orphanage. Of those places, my favorite country is Costa Rica because the weather there is perfect (in my opinion). If you don't mind a lot of rain in rainy season, it could be a very beautiful place to live. What do you think?

Soy de México. vivo en un Estado del Sureste: Oaxaca. Aquí hay la mayor variedad de Indígenas de todo el país: 16 idiomas y más de cien dialectos. En muchos de los pueblos indígenas la religión es una mezcla de las creencias paganas prehispánicas y de catolicismo. I'm from Mexico. I live in a state in the southeast: Oaxaca. Here there is the greatest variety of indigenous in the whole country: 16 languages and more than 100 dialects. In many of the indigenous villages, the religion is a mix of the prehispanic pagan beliefs and Catholicism. It's a diverse and beautiful state like few others, with a climate that one could call the "eternal spring".

Parece como una clima hermosa, verdad? Creo que la clima es lo mismo en Costa Rica. Cuando yo fui a Mexico, era un lugar en el desierto - muy seco y caliente - R.C. Sonora. Para mi, prefiero una clima fresca, como el otono o la primavera en los EEUU. Parece a mi que Oaxaca puede usar misionarias catolicas? Tal vez es un oportunidad para mi futuro. !Gracias por la informacion!

It sounds like a beautiful climate, huh? I think the climate is the same in Costa Rica. When I went to Mexico, it was a place in the desert - very dry and hot - R.C. Sonora. For me, I prefer a cool climate, like fall or spring in the USA. It sounds to me like Oaxaca could use some Catholic missionaries? Perhaps it's an opportunity for my future. Dear Emily: first an apology. I didn't realize that I wrote UNA clima instead of UN clima and that led you to use UNA CLIMA in your response. Clima is a masculine name.

If you ever have a chance of visiting Oaxaca you'll be surprised by the natural beauties, the colonial buildings and churches (Santo Domingo church is considered one of the most beautiful churches in Latin America), the extaordinary Pyramids and buildings of the Zapotec and Mixteco indians, the variety of dishes in the regional cuisine, etc. etc.

I wish that I was already. I should be taking RCIA this summer if everything works out, since I have a teacher willing to give classes for my mother and me. But then I may continue in the fall while at college and enter the Church next Easter. We'll see how it goes. Thanks for the thought, though!
