how can I exersize during pregnancy

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Doula.Com General Discussion : One Thread

I would like to know exactly how extream of a workout I can do without harming my baby. The pregnancy videos i have done offer me no satisfaction. I am used to doing mostly leg, butt and abdomen workouts. The only workout video that i have ever really liked is the cindy crawford shape your body workout from 1993 (i think). I will sacrifice intense workouts but i would like to know my limit so that i don't get bored and not want to work out at all. Please let me know if you have any suggestions. Thanks! Jessica

Hi Jessica- No one can answer exactly how extreme of a workout is OK for you. Generally, you can continue working out the same as before pregnancy with some changes. You don't want to be on your back much in the 2nd trimester and hardly at all in the 3rd. Don't get overheated. Mostly you need to listen to your body- if you get tired, too warm or feel that you are stressing your body STOP. Bouncing workouts aren't a great idea as you get further along- you can definitely stress your kegel muscle with the weight of the baby AND it won't be too comfortable. Happy working out- Kirsten
