CHO OYU EXPEDITION – Spring 2006

Hello, my name is Charles Gray and I am currently seeking experienced climbers to join me on a Mt. Cho Oyu climbing expedition in spring of 2006. Cho Oyu at ~27,000’ is the 6th highest mountain in the world. Cho Oyu is considered to be one of safest (relatively speaking) of the 8,000meter peaks and it also has one of the highest success rates. The climb will be via the Normal Route on the Tibet side of the mountain. The trip will run 6 weeks and will be done in the springtime, which historical offers better weather. Sherpas will be utilized to assist with load carries to reduce climber fatigue and improve summit success. Team member may opt for oxygen to further improve their chances of summiting and safety up high. The trip will be lead by Rick Wilcox who has extensive Himalaya experience including successful summit of Mt. Everest. Interested candidates should have previous high altitude mountaineering experience on mountains such as Mt. McKinley (Denali) 20,320’ and Mt. Aconcagua 22,840’ or equivalent. Please contact me Grayce@npt.nuwc.navy.mil if you are interested.
