a confirmation sponsor and annulment question

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Catholic : One Thread

Hi, I just started the process for an annullment. I have also been asked to be a sponsor for confirmation. I am told by some that I cannot sponsor a confirmation candidate during an annullent process and vice versa. and can i receive the sacrament? I hope someone can guide me in the right direction. thanks

Response to a cofrmation sponsor and annullent question

If you have remarried outside the Church, then you shouldn't be receiving Holy Communion or a sponser for confirmation. Otherwise, there shouldn't be a problem, assuming you've confessed any mortal sins and been absolved in the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Response to a cofrmation sponsor and annullent question

There is nothing morally wrong with seeking an annulment; therefore, doing so should not interfere in any way with your full participation in any aspect of the life of the Church, including the sacraments.
