JVC GR-D70U has no power

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Dirck Halstead : One Thread

OK, this is the second go round for this problem. Both occasions, I take the camera out of its bag, where its been since last use, and turn it on to have no power. Try plugging in, even though battery was just charged not long ago, and still nothing. Last time it was in warranty and they said they replaced a fuse or two. Now its out of warranty and I don't want to pay the $59 + shipping again for them to "replace a fuse" Any ideas? Ever open one up and do this yourself? Is this a known problem with the camcorder? Thanks in advance, James

Does the battery stay charged if it is NOT in the camera? My guess is that there is a continious drain on the battery from some cloesd circuit in the camera. good luck.

I have both the original JVC Battery, and the JVC extended battery which is number BN-V416U. I would tend to agree withat theory, but that does not explain why I still get nothing from the camera when plugged into AC. It does not attempt to chage the battery nor does it power the camera.

I have the exact same problem with my JVC GR-DVL167 and thought it must be a fuse. The problem is that the tape currently in it at the moment is of a particularly private nature and I can't bring it in to be repaired! Any ideas whether the fuse can be purchased and replaced easily?

No answer, same problem

My JVC GR-D90U was working fine, except for a little audio cutting in and out. I then plugged in a universal ac adapter (stupid). Then camcorder went dead and will not power up or give any lights. The camcorder uses 11volts, when I tested the ac adapter it was giving out 15volts no matter what the settings were put to. I hope there is a fuse or circuit that you could fix and would be cheep and easy. I am pretty tech savvy and am able to fix most things once I know what to do. Could some wonderful person help me from being a victim of my own stupidity. Thanks
