I just started reading gantz

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Community Anime Reviews : One Thread

And this is probably one of the darker manga titles I've read since I started d/ling scans online. It's a manga I recommend for people who is looking for something bizarre, puzzling, with elements of horror. You can go to http://omanga.net and find direct downloads there.

animeone said they'll do it, but I don't know when they'll get the first ep out since they're picking up 8 new series.

-- ubb (demonreaper73@hotmail.com), April 20, 2004.

Yeah.. Till now I only see 2 episodes, raw. Can't wait till they sub it.

So what do u think of the anime. Itz like a Zoom-anime (new style maybe?). But I think itz great. Gonzo Productions did a good job again ofcourz.

Hey ubb since u been reading the manga- how does it compare to the anime so far- i heard they butchered episode 2- is the anime even worth getting?

-- Oz (souljah972@hotmail.com), April 25, 2004.

The anime totally sucks compared to the manga. They cut out scenes where they killed the small onion kid, and it wasn't even bloody. The amount of censorship is comparable to dub edits.

damn that sux- i guess i won't watch it- i heard the dvds are suppose to be unedited so i will just wait for those to come out and see if ne one subs them

do you know how many volumes are there for the manga? Is the one from Omanga complete?

-- broken_angel (comic_crisis@hotmail.com), April 26, 2004.

Omanga is almost finished with translating volume 5. Gantz is currently at its 12th volume in japan, I forgot when the next volume will come out.

gantz is good... but it has some mature content. Omanga released the 1st ch. of vol. 6

-- just1n (kpxbboi@hotmail.com), April 28, 2004.

well, i haven't seen the anime, but i do read the translations from omanga. it is a really good series to me, even though there seems to be a particularly large focus on Kei's crush/obsession on Kishimoto.

and what do you mean, onion kid's death wasn't bloody? he blew up all over the wall! those guns rock...

-- marahna (marahna@hotmail.com), May 03, 2004.

maranha, the anime version got cencorred. its more like the scene is cut. its kinda hard to follow (for those who havent watch the manga). i think it sucks so much !

-spoilers-!! also, i noticed a few changes in the anime vs manga version. in the manga version, kei runs away from the onion monster leaving the girl behind. but in the anime version, he distracted the monster into chasing him.

Hey is there anywhere i can get episode 61 and above for the manga? I don't even mind if they are RAWs.

-- heafty (swiffersweeper@hotmail.com), May 17, 2004.

Do you know if there are any translations in english, french or german (printed). And at which volumes are they.

I think there's a french one of volume 7, but I'm not sure.

I've also read omanga/hawks scans, but I can't wait. In japan volume 13 is published this week.

You won't find gantz in U.S. bookstores until it is licensed. As for the raw, if you can read chinese you can go to bt.greedland.net for it. You do not have to use the kanji translation of the title, just type gantz in the search window and they'll give you torrents for it.
