Puter Problems?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ACountryPlace : One Thread

Have ya'll had troubles with the internet bein so slow? My stupid little puter is almost a boat anchor! I've cleaned out all my temp filefs, run adaware to clean the trackin do-hickeys and run a virus scan. No virus's--. When you click on a site-the little monitors at the bottom right hand part of the screen will light up--bytes will be received and then all of a sudden--the little monitors quit-the bytes received [and sent] will stop. Like something is takin a rest for a mite but then it'll come back on. So slow and I'm impatient I rekon.

Homesteadin today is down for the second day. Anybody got any answers afore I work over this "massive E Machine" with a rolled up newspaper? old hoot. Matt.24:44

Hoot, Try Spybot Search and Destroy. That is what i use, and in my opinion it is MUCH better than adaware. I have used both.

Hoot for some reason the address has not been working right. You might try http://66.79.179.172/vb/index.php

to get to HomesteadingToday.

Hey guys! Got the puter all fix'd and doin good. Emailed my ISP this mornin and they called about 8am. I'd already deleted my temp files but we dumped the history files and that was where the problem was. Now this old obsolete E Machine is tie'n every bundle! Thank God for young whippersnappers who know about these dumb things. Now, just give me an old tube type ham radio and I'll show ya'll a thing or two but forget the solid state stuff. I'm as lost as a goose in a blindin hailstorm. old hoot. Matt.24:44
