Mother Teresa

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Catholic : One Thread

I'm currently car pooling with a guy that personally meet Mother Teresa when he was young in india. He told me that the words she said made everyone cry. He couldn't help himself from crying also.

This man is a Hindu, but he is also a very confused man.

I think that he heard the truth that day and it shook him. Ever since he has been confused.

Is there anything simple that I can say that will help him look in the direction of the church? He told me that when he was young he was made to pray as a catholic.

One thing you can do for him is to say the rosary for his conversion - the rosary is so powerful. You can also be an 'example' for him. How we live our lives can be a powerful testimony to lead others to Jesus - sometimes, more than our words.

Let your friend see the peace, the love, the hope and strength, you experience as a result of your faith and he may want that too.

Why don't you invite him to attend a Mass with you?

Kev..I have found that the best way to reach a friend is to use the most natural words possible...you already have used them. Why not say to him, "Is there anything I can say to you which might help you to look in the direction of my Church?" Since you and he have already had discussions about his experiences as a young man, it would seem to be a reasonable and not offensive statement from you.If his heart is open to hearing about the Catholic Church at this time, he will welcome the question..if not,he will decline and perhaps bring it up himself at some later date..or not.

The reason I mentioned that you invite your friend to Mass with you is because that is how an acquaintance of mine converted to Catholicism.

He went to Mass with his Catholic girlfriend every Sunday for a year or two and fell in love with the Catholic Church...he converted before they married.

Everyone's input is good and I will pray for you that God gives you the words. You can pray for the same. The Holy Spirit will give you the words if you pray for them.

God Bless.
