Africans wrote the Bible?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Catholic : One Thread

I was in a book store and wandered into the religious section and noticed a book called "The Africans that Wrote the Bible". Has anyone ever heard of that? It talked about (as it put it) "What Africa and Christianity has never told Westeren Europe"

It claimed the Hebrew names of the OT derived from African names, the maddona, and the black Jesus it claims comes from this African claim. Something like things it says though I don't remember exactly what it all said but has anybody ever heard of this?

We would need specifics, I think to be able to answer your questions. The painting known as the Black Madonna is called that because soot residue that discolored the painting.

I guess I would have to see it again because all's I remember was that it claimed Africa had alot to do with the Bible and Christianity. And also secrets the westeren world hasn't heard.

Even something about Jewish people today have something to do with Africa.

The site Enrique posted is not a Catholic site. I can't even tell if is a academic site or just a site to sell books that people who listen to late night radio would be interested in ;)

You are right, Bill, it is not a Catholic site and I didn't send it as such. If you see what other people are saying that goes contrary to Catholic bilief you just discard it and stop worrying about it. Among other things this site pretends that almost all the people in Ancient Israel were of black race even Jesus. It is not only untrue but utterly ridiculous.

I have nothnig against Blacks, God forbid. To me if God had decided to choose Black people to bring about salvation I would accept it gladly, but I reject it because it goes against History and reality.

Enrique,

Please study before you attempt to answer! I suggest you go to the following website: http://www.angelfire.com/il2/HebrewIsraelites/start2.html (or search "Biblical Hebrew Israelites").

Do your research and be amazed. Do you think the American Negro has suffered the way they have for nothing?

I recently started reading the book but was not startled by anything I had read!I have been fortunate enough to read a lot of other documents that suggest that the truth lies within the ancient hieroglyphics hidden in Egypt and Nubia(present day Sudan). The enlgish translation of the hieroglyphs are not accurate because of the fact that majority of it cannot be translated, the african alphabets obviously offers a more in depth translation where one immediately begins to notice the similarities within the ancient hieroglyphs.Every single african dialect can offer a better translaation,so I am therefore in agreement with most of the book so far!!!!
