A Different Kind of Colonial House

I say, that it is time for PBS to try taking some homesteaders, and stick them in the same situation they stick those yokels in on Frontier House and Colonial house, and see who can get about the business of building a community. I say, take Judy, from Tabletop Homestead, me, Hoot, and a few others on this board, and let US live for a year on the Frontier. All I ask for, is the land after they get done! I bet you, the frontier would be a whole lot different!!! Hey Judy, do you think you might manage to deal with getting 160 acres each, and building a town together? I even know how to take care of Joe's shower! You and I wait until he walks out of the cabin in the morning, and pour a bucket of water on his head, LOL. In the case of both Colonial House, and Frontier House, it is amazing to me how those people have food all around them, and still go hungry. On Colonial House they live next to the ocean for crying out loud!!! I'm thinking lobster, crab, and fish with a few wild onions, and some blueberries. I certainly wouldn't be waiting around for some native Americans to show up with a muskrat! I also think that perhaps with some experienced homesteaders they might actually come up with a show that demonstrates the period, instead of a show in which everybody is a rebel without a cause! I read this one article today where they were complaining about the lack of hard wood ashes to make soap. Now tell me, how many forests have you been in that you couldn't fins at least some downed hardwood! Even in California this was not hard!

I'm with you! But, you know I'm shy, so you all get it coordinated and I'll be there with bells on (and assorted tools and seeds and off-the-wall ideas and numerous opinions.) LOL

Ok Little Bit --you get it organized and I'll join in with you on this venture. I'm sure we could do a lot better job then any of them did. Lauraleah
