Interesting question Non-Believer.I happen to be in a unique position to answer it. When I was 16 years old(4months shy of my 17 birthday)I underwent what is referred to in the medical community as Sexual Reassignment Surgery(SRS).My parents, who are still my best friends and the closest people to me in the world were very supportive and in fact paid for the majority of the procedure. The surgeon who performs this surgery in Galveston,TX would not perform the surgery on me until I was 18.

I was born with undescended testes, which were also underdeveloped and never completely descended,I also have a chromosomal condition called Klinefelter's Syndrome which is the XXXY sex genome.(BE CAREFUL!THE ALL-OMNIPOTENT,ALL-KNOWING ZORAVE MAY TRY TO ACTUALLY TELL YOU THAT THIS CONDITION DOCUMENTED,STUDIED AND UNIVERSALLY ACKNOWLEDEGED FOR THE PAST 140 YEARS IS "CRACKPOT" SCIENCE)I wish Zorave, who apparently takes the time and interest enough to take a class in "Animal Psychology" could be confronted with the actual(as opposed to documented)intersexed people in the world who suffer from both Klinefelters,Turner's Syndromes, and all the varied forms of Hermaphroditism.I shudder to think at the "appropriate" sexuality preference self-righteous people like Zorave would assign them.(based entirely on religious whim of which God (with a capitol "G") is at the center of.

Zorave's "proof" of his existence is "PHILOSOPHICALLY" proven)IN addition to the underdeveloped, undescended testes I was born with, at about 12 Ibegan to develop small, conical breasts around an unusually larger aereola.I was diagnosed by endocrinologists as having Hypogonadal Hormone production levels, that caused the development of secondary sex characteristics in me.While a little disconcerting to my parents at first they were in no way surprised by my strong identification as a female.Since about 4(pre-school)I had always voiced my feelings that i was a girl.

Even before that my parents, relatives, and even strangers remarked on strongly displayed feminine characteristics in me.My mother recalled to the more than 8 psychologists I saw as a pre-adolescent that she always had to correct people about my gender as a toddler, even though I had a typical boy's haircut and little boy's clothes.(as in,"How old is she?"...No, no no he's a boy")THe same endocrinologist recommended a specialist and chromosome testing where XXXY with saliva swab and later bloodwork confirmed. In the second grade I'd kick and scream at having my hair cut and eventually my poor, exhausted parents had no choice but to agree to a "comprimise" haircut.Every Haloween from that grade on, I reveled in dressing up as female characters.Lucky for me, I had parents who raised me whith such an indestructable sense of personal pride and ego that I can't remember once hanging my head down in shame or sadness. On the contrary,I highly enjoyed the attention my "specialness" gave me, both from adults and educators alike. If people teased or harassed me I was thrilled at the opportunity to fight back,(in the fourth grade I'd blow kisses to the boys who teased me to infuriate them more)And woe to anyone who even dared pysical violence.I'd frequently call 911 just to enjoy the thrill of playing victim and watch the policemen's faces when I recounted the abuses of grade school "homophobes".

In my freshmen year in high school I started a club for young gays and lesbians the first person to do so in my high school in 1991.There was a health teacher/coach who refused to sponser any school funded money for my club even though he sponsored "Christian" afterschool clubs.Later this same coach refused to even teach me in his classroom.(At this point I should add, Iwore my hair down to my back, and make-up,though the public school drew the line at dresses.)With the help of my parents I sued and won. There is now to my great pleasure a GAY/STRAIGHT STUDENT ALLIANCE in JR.high school of that same district.(Progress, progress!)I never took and still don't take estrogen because I had read about the weight gain side effects that I didn't want to encounter.Instead I'd sneak out of the house at nights and topless dance at a local strip club until I had saved up the 2800 dollars for my first breast augmentation.(a full C cup) I already had a modest small B.I took the bus from Brownsville,Tx,across the border to Monterrey,Mexico to a wonderful surgeon who showed me off to her colleagues remarking on my "realistic" appearance as a female.

The first breast augmentation caused the first and only slightly negative rift with my parents, who were upset with the the danger they felt i had put myself in with the topless dancing and surgery in foreign country. Now 16, and more than comfortable with my life as "Rebecca" (the name mother said she was going to name if I had been born a girl)my parents, counselors, psychlogists all agreed that there was clearly no path but sex-change surgery that was best for me.We shopped around the U.S. but like the aforementioned surgeon in Galveston,no surgeon would operate on me for the genital surgery until I was 18.We finally found a surgeon in upstate New York who was willing to perform the surgery on a nearly 17 year-old. I began the senior year of high school in a different city and besides being both popular and well-liked I graduated number 4 in my class. I graduated from the University of Texas Magna Cum Laude (B.A.English)in 1998.I work for a non-profit publishing house that supports the work of Hispanic authors. That same senior year,I met the guy who is still my boyfriend.(he became aware of my original gender 8 months after we began dating). Well.

NON-BELEIVER, as far as I can tell you, I enjoy COMPLETE and TOTAL rights in my gender in all 50 United States, and most industrialized Western Nations.I am free to marry legally any man ,with even my birth certificate being amended.Curiously though, if I used my original birth certificate theoretically I am allowed to marry a woman legally as well.(In England the country Zorave is apparently from,I am not recgonized in the female gender in anything other than passports)(Oh well,Zorave is also from a country where they also have a Queen who reigns,so I i'm not terribly distressed by Britain's backwardness).Another thing I need you to understand, althogh more breast augmentations and cosmetic surgeries I've had later (I'm 28)I don't and haven't for a long time considered myself a "woman trapped in a man's body" That is an erroneous cliche. I don't think ANY transsexual really "feels" like a woman, rather they feel what they imagine a woman feels like.

I consider myself unstead to be just a very, very, very, very, very, very effeminate feeling and looking male whose pschological interests are better served with a body surgically reconfigured to resemble and function like a female's body.Therfore much to my boyfriend's consternation,I consider the cause of Gays to be very much my own as well.We have a very strong, and long relationship. He, like myself was raised Roman Catholic, and wants very much to be married in the Catholic Church. While I am for the most part atheistic.I do admire the ritual.imagery, and beautiful tradition of the Church. To my eye there is simply no Christian sect grander and just plain prettier than the Catholic Church. While I might consider the actual teaching to be plain hokey.it doesn't change the lyricism and sparkle of the religion's glossy exterior. While I can't produce an"amended" Baptismal certificate.it would be easy to start anew and pretend to be new to the Catholic Faith to marry my boyfriend.A friend recently e-mailed me with photos of the famous French transsexual,"Coccinelle" the Marilyn Monroe look-a-like who was married with the full blessing af both bishop and clergy in Notre Dame Cathedral IN THE 1960s!!!)I'm uncertain as to the exact feelings of the church on the matter though in both Rome and this country.

Before seeing the film "The Passion of the Christ" Iwould never have agreed with my boyfriend to marry. After "The Passion.." however,I rediscovered the aesthetic prettiness of the church and now find myself frequently sitting alone in the back pew(I would be mortally embaressed if I anyone I knew, knew I did this)and just sitting back soaking in the peace and old mysticism.I've even found myself emboldened enough to recieve communion.Understand I don't do any of this because I actually believe in the nonsense literally,i just like the beauty and universality of Jesus of Nazareth's message in the strictly allegorical sense. And when the Catholic Church does it, with the regalia and ornate ritual,it is as attractive as a pair of shiny double DD cup breast implants. So I guess I am starting to consider the marriage thing with my boyfriend.

Either way the Massachusetts decision heartens and justifies my equality sensiblities.Don't believe,Non-believer in some of the rabid denigrations, people like Zorave preach. He seems to have a curious preoccupation with sex.It has been my experience especially when I was a topless dancer, that beneath the surface of straight-laced,conservative,preachy,religious types is a seething cauldron of repressed sexuality.People with phobic.inadequacy,or other problems with sex seem to be particularly virulent in decrying in it.(in all forms, homosexual,or otherwise)But just because of this, don't relegate all Catholics(Zorave isn't Catholic by the way)into a shallow category.By and large they are well-meaning,gentle folks who are lucky enough to engage in pretty rituals all the time.Interestingly Bill Nelson,if you're out there.I enjoyed the resources you pointed out to me.We may disagree on fundamental stuff, but you are a gentlemen, even in this Texan's eyes.I know it can't be a positive answer I'm looking for(more than likely)but what is the CatholicChurch's position on intersexed people?Including forms of hermaphroditism, and pseudo-hermaphroditism?

Zarove,

What was in your post that was offensive enough to merit deletion?

Basically, I said she was sick minded, demented, and showed signed of idnetity crisis, and innaprrpiate attention seeking.

She was arrogant, self centred, and clarly unintereste di anythign bu her own vanity and pride.

This was couned a prsonal attack. ( But her own post is ourely about her and is thus the only option.)

Likewise, I called ehr a liar. She called herself gay when we first spoke, and I sid Homsoexality doesn thave a gnetic causation. Turns ot it was hermaphroditism. Most gay peopel arent hermaphrodites.

Clealry if I am miselad as to what the person is, then I will make error in tellign them facts.

Is it OK for me to be called a Degenerate? OK for her ot mock my entire nationality? OK for her to mock me for religiosu vewiws? OK for her to misrepresent me?

Zarove, I agree with you, R.L.'s post got a bit too personal and too much of it had nothing to do with the topic at hand, so I have removed it as well. The reason I deleted your post originally is because I was responding to a complaint made in the thread about your remark. At this point, I would like to let everyone know that I DON’T READ EVERY SINGLE POST! If anyone is insulted or offended by anything anyone has written in the forum, about anyone, than please advise me by email and I will look into it. Zarove, in addition, I have removed your most recent post, as again, you committed the same infraction to the rules as you did in your earlier post that was deleted. I won't be warning you very much in the future about not personalizing your posts. Please be careful and keep your writing to the topic at hand.

R.L. I also provide you with the same caution I have just given Zarove. Personalized posts/insults will be deleted. If this sort of conduct continues, the poster will be asked to leave the forum.
