How many works did Poe write that were published? I know it is really hard to tell becuase of all the articles and such, but I am more interested in the number of short stories and poems that Poe had published.

You can count for yourself at www.eapoe.org. They were often published several times. "Alone" never was since it was written in a notebook for a friend. I assume you mean published in his lifetime? With the poems some are really revised or revisited works from his early works.
