I am looking for any historical information on Maye's Oyster House which was at 1233 Polk Street. From 1867 to 1906 it was George Maye's Oyster Saloon & Chophouse at the California Market then relocated to Polk Street after the earthquake. Any information on the California Market location, the Polk Street location, or secondary information (famous patrons, whether it was haunted, or other sordid details) would be greatly appreciated.
