1. Who gave the name "Bible" to the holy book?

catholics, when they compiled it.

2. Since when has this name been used?

since the late 300's when at the first catholic council the catholics compiled the scriptures into one book.

3. Do all Christian denominations use this name?

no, most, but not all.

4. What is the exact meaning of the word "Bible"?

i don't think it has an exact meaning, other than that it is the title of the book which contains the word of God.

5. Why do some Bibles have more books than others?

because luther, wary of the fact that certain aspects he didnt like were contained in seven texts of the old testament, along with several phrases in the new. luther changed the phrases by adding a few words here and there, but for the seven books he labelled them as apocrypha (inspired, but not entirely divine truth), which was a judgement he was not allowed to make. later denominations of protestants entirely removed these books from the bible, an action which they also did not have the right to do. that is why the catholic bible contains seven more books than most protestant bibles.

1. Who gave the name "Bible" to the holy book?

A: "Bible" is derived from the Greek "biblios" , meaning "book", or "the book". When the Council of Carthage finalized the canon of scripture at the end of the 4'th century, they simply called the compiled book "the Book". Because the bishops assembled in council were from many different localities and spoke various local dialects, the common language spoken at the council was the universal language of educated people of the time - Greek. Hence, biblios - Bible.

2. Since when has this name been used?

A: See #1

3. Do all Christian denominations use this name?

A: Never heard of one that didn't.

4. What is the exact meaning of the word "Bible"?

A: See #1.

5. Why do some Bibles have more books than others?

A: Because the founders of Protestantism eliminated 7 books of Sacred Scripture, some of which contradicted their new doctrines. Therefore Protestant Bibles have seven fewer books (66) than the original Bible did (73). The Catholic Church, which defined the original Bible, still use it. Therefore they have the full 73 books which all Christians on earth used until a few hundred years ago. Those who removed the seven Old Testament books fully intended to remove three New Testament books as well, in which case the Protestant Bibles would be short 10 books rather than 7. However, their followers were so vehemently against this that they dropped the issue, saving the New Testament from desecration.

spanish translation of my above post, with an added statement that i dont know any spanish and asking for understanding if the translator program messed some things up.
