Happy Birthday to the Church!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Catholic : One Thread

It's Pentecost Sunday, the Sunday of 50 days after Easter. That means it's the birthday of the Christian Church, as described in Acts 2. (FYI for those who may not follow a liturgical calendar).

Regarding His Church, Jesus said "the gates of hell shall not prevail against it" (Mt. 16:18), so we can rejoice because we know that Christ has the victory over sin and death. Praise God, who has blessed us abundantly with the gift of the Church!

May the Holy Spirit shower us with Grace.

Emily,

you sound like the church is the salvation..."gift of the church"..should it be gift of God?

No, Henry, that's not what I was saying. I was simply stating that the Church is God's gift to us. I tried to make my post as Protestant-friendly as possible so that we could celebrate what we have in common.

God bless,
