Fasteners and Paint Protectors

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MV Agusta F4 : One Thread

Have noticed that the rings on the MV fasteners are starting to marr the paint where they flip down...

Somewhere in the past I saw a place (perhaps on the WWW) that carried little rubber or plastic clips that went over them or attached to them that would protect the paint...

Can anyone point me in the right direction to find these?

Thanks much..

Yo! These fasteners usually comes with plastic o-rings to protect your paint job. I think that when you buy these parts, they should go aolng with these. You can buy them from Ducati or MV shops, Ferraci & Casoli. There are some few of them, but these are the best sources for 'em Italian Bikes.

No.. I'm not looking for the plastic washers that go behind them.. that the dealers carry..(even our local Duc dealer has those... ) I want something that protects the paint from the ring that flips back and forth... Have seen a BB shaped rubber ball somewhere that slots over this ring keeping it from touching the paint, but can't seem to locate them now....

Any help would be appreciated..

The ring should not be flopping around. If so, they're worn and I would replace them. The ones on my bike are all tight and stay put where I left them. If not replacing, getting those clips that you're talking about would do the trick as well.

JJ.. Mine are also tight.. they don't flop around, but between the inherant vibration from day to day riding and flipping them from side to side when I wash and dry the bike, I can already see where the paint is starting to wear... Hence my desire to nip this in the bud... Perhaps I'm too anal.. That comes from running the # 1 motorcycle detailing service in the South for 4 years in a row...

Well.. thought I’d check in with an update on my Dzus fastener conundrum. In last weeks episode, I was fretting about my fasteners marring my expensive Italian paint.. Solution found thanks to the advice of a fellow MV’er. My worries are over.. well.. at least ONE worry is over..

Check it out from either our How-To page at http://www.piratesk12site.net/MVhowto.htm It’s the link that says.. How To Clear Coat Your Dzus Fasteners or go directly to the solution at http://www.piratesk12site.net/Dzus.htm

Thanks all for the suggestions..
