Rangeley 14

Does anyone know anything about the Rangeley 14' fiberglass? How does it handle compared to a Whitehall? I think I found one for sale...I have been looking for a Whitehall Reproduction 14' Spirit and am beginning to give up on the second hand search....

Nick - was the boat built by Bob Lincoln? RKL Boatworks out of Mount Desert ME? In the late 80's early 90's he built a beautiful 14' boat called the 'Little Rangeley'. Small Boat Journal published a review of this boat in 1988. I could fax a copy to you if you'd like - Gary

I found a photo of a Rangeley 14 at:

http://www.classicboatshop.com/brokerage/rkl.html

The difference in this photo from a classic whitehall would be the stern. I can't see it too well but the Rangeley doens't appear to have a skeg. This would make the boat turn a bit easier. In anycase go with a checkbook and row it!

There is also a wood 16ft'er by RKL at: http://www.antiqueandclassicboats.com/brokerageboats.html

One does wonder about the 10ft oars. Maybe he has a row-wing in it. The regular seat and beam of 41" would call for 6ft 6" oars. Anyway the photos will tell all. Good luck. -Gary-

Does anyone out there know of a person or company that would transport this boat from NH to NJ? It does have a 1991 trailer...Nick
