I have seen this anime everywhere but I have not read the manga or seen the anime. Is this one worth picking up? Any info on this anime would be appreciated. Thanks.

yep, but even though they say it's not, the manga is pretty much just like the anime. so don't bother reading it.

I would recommend you watch it but you probably won't like the last 2 eps I got confused when I wathced it I had to look up information at a website to find out what happened. They even made an alternate two episodes called The End of Evangelion to replace the original last two episodes. It's not the ending you'd expect

Evangelion is definately worth it. And BTW End of Evangelion was a epilogue to the actual series not an alternate ending. I suggest you watch Evangelion Death and Rebirth first though!
