Confused Question No. 1: Sin?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Ask Jesus : One Thread

Jesus was without sin; He was divine.

When a person has his sins "washed away", he is without sin, yes?

But, Scriptures tell us that no person is without sin, what's going on here?

If Christ paid for our sins in full, why do we need Baptism?

How can we be cleasned of our sin, yet continue to sin? Do we need to have continual Baptism? It seems irrelavant to contuniually have "cleansing" if Christ has already paid the price.

The questions seem confusing, but I'm sure we have the proper answers.

ek! *capitalized*

I think that when we sin--it isn't meant the actual individual things we do---(those are only the results of the fact that we have rejected God)...what is meant is the fact that we have fallen short of God's glory because we have rejected Him. By receiving Christ--we are no longer in sin.,because we are no longer rejecting Him.

How did you know the questions were geared at OUR one particular POSTER?

Cleansed of sin means forgiven for sin. All have sinned except Jesus. It's the nature of sin, which cannot be remove except when in heaven. It's something you are born into. you can remove sin, but not the sinful nature. so see, all have a sinful nature, even if they are forgiven of sin, because they will eventually sin again. all except Jesus have sinned. A common misconception is that sin is something you do that's bad. Sin is something you do that upsets and hurts God.

Now about baptism, no you do not need to be baptized to be saved. God asks you to be baptized because it is a symbol on death and resurrection. An old life without Jesus to a new life without sin (not sinful nature but hurtful things to Jesus) and with Jesus. But remeber, baptism does absolutley nothing to save you from sin. accepting Jesus as savior and repenting of sin. And you CANNOT remove the sinful nature of a human. Baptism is a symbol, just a wedding ring to symbolize you are married, baptism is just a symbol of salvation. You can be saved without baptism, and be baptized without actually accepting Christ.

Now, about becoming re-saved, and this is where i could become offensive to Catholics. YOU DO NOT RE-ACCEPT CHRIST TO FORGIVE SIN. You simply ask him sincerely to forgive your sin, and he forgives you. You could go on in life without confessing sin and just ignore God (extremely unwise) and do whatever and still go to heaven. Note, this doesn't please God, and angers Him. Most think of God only of Love, but God is a just God, not only of Love, but Wrath. It is not smart to make a mockery of God.

So then, why do i need to confess my sins if Im already saved? To stay in touch with God. Many catholics believe that the seven deadly sins nock you out of fellowship of God. They Are partly right and partly wrong. Any sin will knock you out of fellowship of God. However, he still hears your prayers, and still loves you. But over time, you will notice talking to God gets harder to do. Many people think that talking to God is through others, such as priests or saints, and still many believe its just saying the Lords Prayer, etc. But God wants not for you to prayer though others. He wants to have a relationship with YOU. Dont ask me why he wants to spend time with us even though we hurt Him constantly, im not even sure why he does that, but he loves you no matter what. (back to the matter at hand) Yes this might sound crazy, but i walk and talk with God all the time. and yes, it gets extremely hard to hear what he has to say when i havent been following His will for my life. But overtime you will come to recognize His voice and even the voice of satan and his demons.

I hope that helps rod if in doubt, pray it out. Have fun. Doug

What is your view of petitioning if you believe that God does not wish us to pray "through" others?

Also, your explanation of "confession" is not clear. What is the difference between sinning before and after baptism?

Do you believe that Jesus is your "personal" Saviour?

"Any sin will knock you out of fellowship of God. "

What does that mean, Doug? Are you saying "once saved, always saved"? If that is the case, then confession of sins for "cleansing" has no effect on one's Salvation. You are saying that it is not necessary, but that Catholics are simple confessing in vain. "Fellowship" and Salvation must be two seperate things, then. I do believe that confessing of sins has everything to do with Salvation.

"You simply ask him sincerely to forgive your sin, and he forgives you. You could go on in life without confessing sin and just ignore God (extremely unwise) and do whatever and still go to heaven. "

Really?? please explain your assertion.

"Once Saved, Always Saved" is not exactly kosher. But, what do you mean by "extremely unwise" when one will "...still go to [H]eaven"?
