Is vigil mass on Saturday permitted for "First Saturdays"?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Catholic : One Thread

I am new to the First Saturdays devotion. Can I attend a Saturday evening vigil mass to satisfy the Saturday mass/receiving Eucharist requirement? Or do I have to go to an earlier Saturday mass on First Saturdays? The evening masses are easier for me to attend due to my circumstances and transportation issues. Please reply asap, thanks!! Blessings, Cyn ~JMJ~

Technically speaking, Saturday evening vigil mass are Sunday masses. It is for those who find difficult to go to mass on a Sunday. You can apply the same principle here. Due to your difficult circumstances and transport issues, you can confidently fufill your Satuday devotion by going to Saturday vigil mass/Eucharist. We are people of the New Testament, not the Old. In Christ, we have the freedom. We are not bound so much by laws that becomes a burden to us. We no longer people of the the law, but of the Spirit (in obedience to the wisdom of the Church). God looks at the intention of your heart and blesses you. So, go forward and the Lord be with you!!!
