Bittorrent is the program used to download. Bittornado is a seperate program which basically gives some tools and a nicer user interface to bittorrent, which must already be installed.

The original Bittorrent client (http://bitconjurer.org/BitTorrent/) by Bram Cohen.

Bittornado is based on the original client with some tweaks and modifications. Not sure about the speed improvement, but there are other handy functions.
