why the bloody hell is most things on either irc or torrent? this sort of thing really gets to me. what happened to good old fashioned http downloads?

coz http requires too much bandwidth on a server which is expensive. torrent is much more cost friendly and easily distributed.

Because the files are bigger (in case of anime) and http is just too expensive for paying those bandwidth. Share on P2P and irc is just a good cheap distribution method.

Not to mention that in some cases they are the fastest method to get files.
