Hi Paul,

Could John the Baptist, be Elijah.

John himself answered that question ...

"They asked him, "What then? Are you Elijah?" And he said, "I am not." "Are you the Prophet?" And he answered, "No." (John 1:21)

Derrick,

In addition I would say, read Luke chapter 1, where the angel Gabriel says that John the Baptist would come "in the spirit and power of Elijah". It would seem John had a share in Elijah's spirit.

That coudl be more of less symbolic though. Or, suhc as if I said John Paul 2 was in the Spirit of St. Peter, this does not mean he IS St. Peter. Liekwise, any Chrisains coem togather, and listen to a Pastor/ Preist who speaks " I the spirit of Christ". This does not make them, spacifically, Christ.

Simpley sharign the same gift of the spiritas Elija des not render him the same identity as Elija.
