Prayer for Those Not Receiving Communion

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Catholic : One Thread

I heard this beautiful prayer on a mass on EWTN radio, and I wanted to share it with you all, especially anyone who is in the conversion process or for some other reason cannot receive communion.

Act of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus, I believe that You are in the Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I long for You in my soul. Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. As though You have already come, I embrace You and unite myself entirely to You; never permit me to be separated from You.

I recommend printing it out and bringing it to mass with you. This is what I plan to do. I think it will help appease the longing to receive Christ at times when you are not able to do so. At this time during mass, I also thank the Lord for blessing me so much, as to bring me to the Catholic faith. Even though I am facing probably the greatest trial of my life, I also feel more blessed here than I have ever been before. God is so good!

WE're all praying for that situation to end Emily. Son't worry, all things work togather for good for those who love the Lord.(Romans 8:28)

And I am sure the time wll pass, as it always does, and soon, sooner perhaps than you realise, you will be in full communion, and partake of that which you long for.

Zarove, Thank you for your prayers and kind words. You are truly a blessing.

that prayer is the kind of support and fellowship that keeps me checking this bb.

thanks, emily. what is the "greatest trial" of your life, though? is it a health issue (you were in the hospital recently)??

thanks for the prayer- it verbalizes what a lot of people out there might be feeling.

Emily, Hang in there. You are an inspiration to many. Your trial will end with more blessings than you can imagine...if you feel blessed now, then Glory to God, how wonderful things will be when God has delivered you through this time in your life.

That is what helps me get through daily. Praise God!

jas,

This trial in my life relates to conflict in my immediate family regarding my conversion to Catholicism, along with my mother's conversion. There is a *lot* more to it that I do not wish to explain on a public board, but let's just say the situation is turning for the worse and there does not seem to be any really *good* solutions at this time. I am only 22, so perhaps I will face worse trials in the future, but I don't see how it could get much worse. In my life so far, this has been the most difficult trial yet. Please keep me and my family in your prayers.

Emily,

I'd be happy to add you to our prayers, and can say in hindsight that even the black spots (and there have been some :-( ) in my life have all done something to improve me as a person. I'm sure your troubles will eventually work themselves out as well, and years later, you may look back and find something worthwhile came from it.
