The Fort Worth Star Telegram (Associated Press, Texas), Monday Sept. 13, 2004 Page 6a: The president of the Baltimore-based National Association for the Advancement of Colored People said in a statement Sunday that he planned to apologize to Education Secretary Rod Paige, whose invitation to speak at an Ogio NAACP dinner was withdrawn. Kweisi Mfume said he was "appalled" when he learned about the snub Friday. He said he plans to personally and publically apologize to Paige. Ohio NAACP President Cybil Edwards-McNabb said last week that Paige--who was invited about three weeks ago to speak on education reform--was cut from a dinner program at the request of the national office. Mfume denied that, saying the Ohio NAACP chapter made the decision.-- The Associated Press.

My Comment: This is good, in fact very good. I applaud Mr Mfume for apologizing. However, as head of the organization, he has a responsibility to locate the source of the snub and take action to prevent such in the future.
