About James-Stinkcat

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Ask Jesus : One Thread

David Ortiz left it up to me to decide about whether I wanted to re-instate james, known as Stinkcat to the Ask Jesus Forum. Since the circumstances leading to his banning by David are still incomprehensible to me. I cannot form an 100% opinion. I know he apologized to david O. in a thread.

This is what I plan to do, just like Jury duty.

If 12 of you who are regulars in this forum are in favor of lifting James-Stinkcat's ban in the next 3 days, I will re-instate him.

Assistant-moderator.

Personally, James-stinkcat never disrespected me.

Do we have 12 regulars, that visit frequently enough?

I vote to allow him back, as bannings should be a last resort.

-- ZAROVE (ZAROFF3@JUNO.COM), September 15, 2004.

...I reserve bannings to those who are Satanists wishing to destroy this forum or causing evil.

I think what lead to James' banning involved many posts, not just the one that was deleted. But, it was a difference of doctrine being justified by a poorly done post to delete James. James took his banning with an honorable demeanor. He has served his punishment (deservingly or undeservingly). My decision would be to reinstate him, as has been my decision all along.

It's up to the moderators at this point.

Elpidio

i vote to have James back - if he wants back, but do we have the regular 12 required by yr strange rule?!??!?!

ie you have set a test that you know cannot be met. why not just be honest and say that you do not want James back?

-- Ian (ib@vertifgo.com), September 15, 2004.

I think he was beign Honest, I jus tgink he didnt htink it through thts we dotn have 12 regulars.

-- ZAROVE (ZAROFF3@JUNO.COM), September 15, 2004.

Elpidio, I vote in favor or reinstating James. I emailed David about this before he left. I think the incident did not merit banning, but at most suspension for a short period. I don't even think it merited suspension, but then again, I did not completely understand the situation regarding James's banning by David. Anyway, James has my vote.

Elpidio, if you are the assistant moderator, then who is the Main Moderator now that David is gone?

-- Emily ("jesusfollower7@yahoo.com), September 15, 2004.

I think he should be reinstated!!

Gail

P.S. I wonder where the "Stinkcat" comes from! We'll have to ask him, but I bet he has a cat like mine!!!

-- Gail (Rothfarms@socket.net), September 15, 2004.

I'm glad you're the new moderator, Elpidio. Wise choice on David's part. We may not always agree, but I think you are a kind person who will be fair and honest.

Gail

-- Gail (Rothfarms@socket.net), September 15, 2004.

Thanks, Gail.

Yes, we have enough regulars to meet at least 12 yeses. So far we have Ian, Zarove, Gail, Emily, and Rod saying yes.

I don't play those games, Ian. I defended James before David. Even in private e-mails he(David) agreed that it was up to me. I told him of my plan for re-instating James. He didn't disagree.

Zarove and Emily are co-moderators according to David. faith had stepped down. My main job is fixing/deleting/categorizing threads and deciding with Emily and zarove on someone being banned.

-- Assistant Moderator. (egonval@yahoo.com), September 15, 2004.

I don't really know what James did to tick David off, but I never saw anything objectionable from him before. He has struck me as knowlegable and insightful.

I've rarely ever with the exception of a few truely hateful problematic individuals been in favor of bannings. Hope to see James back!

-- Jim (furst@flash.net), September 15, 2004.

You and me make it seven, Jim.

I hope James-Stinkcat is reading this now.

-- Assistant Moderator. (egonval@yahoo.com), September 15, 2004.

....faith, Max, Luke, Andy, Kevin, Gillian,...and others have not yet given any opinion.

-- Assistant Moderator (egonval@yahoo.com), September 15, 2004.

...Elpidio, Gillian is hardly a forum regular here. I haven't seen her in ages. I'm not sure she's even posted here at all since I began coming to this forum around March-ish.

-- Emily ("jesusfollower7@yahoo.com), September 15, 2004.

...Let's just re-instate James and whosoever objects can sound off with their reasons.

.............

-- rod (elreyrod@yahoo.com), September 15, 2004.

...I have no opinion. I don't know the situation at all.

-- Max Darity (arrowtouch@yahoo.com), September 15, 2004.

...No on does, seems David got mad and banned him rashly.

-- ZAROVE (ZAROFF3@JUNO.COM), September 15, 2004.

...Are you familiar with James-stinkcat, Max? If yes, do you think he should be allowed to post?

-- Elpidio Gonzalez (egonval@yahoo.com), September 15, 2004.

..."No on does, seems David got mad and banned him rashly. "- Zarove.

Not exactly correct, Zarove. David knows and James kind of knows.

I think I know.

David viewed the post in question as an attack on David's doctrine. James gave his apologies, but it was too late or too little for David's actions. Attacks cannot be made towards the doctrines belonging to the persons with the power to delete, ban, or censor one's posts. Things are different, now. Of course, we shall see the difference as time passes. From what I can see, things may operate as expected. Let's see if James returns.

-- rod (elreyrod@yahoo.com), September 15, 2004.

That's true, Rod.

Eveyone here disagrees with me on questions of whether Jesus is God, being born of virgin,....

But I can take it.

That is the beauty of life. Having the mind to reason things out.

...I also think James should be re-instated.

-- Kevin Walker (kevinlwalker572@cs.com), September 15, 2004.

Please, just reinstate James.

No need to vote when all the moderators present agree. David has also given consent and I think it's his way of reconciling. So, just do it! and let's see if James will return.

-- Vincent (love@noemail.net), September 15, 2004.

...I think James should be reinstated. But that's a gut feeling based on what I've seen of James in this forum. To be totally honest, I never saw the incident leading up to his being banned. Thanks for asking my opinion.

-- Andy S ("ask3332004@yahoo.com"), September 15, 2004.

This moderator gave me permission to send an invitation to James about returning to the forum. We'll just have to wait for his arrival.

.....................

-- rod (elreyrod@yahoo.com), September 15, 2004.

I think 10 votes is good enough. Emily and Zarove the other co- moderators also agreed.I only told one person to contact James. But whoever believes that can convince him, go ahead.

-- Assistant Moderator (egonval@yahoo.com), September 15, 2004.

You can post. It is restored.

-- Assistant Moderator (egonval@yahoo.com), September 15, 2004.

"This moderator" meaning our current moderator, not our David.

-- rod (elreyrod@yahoo.com), September 15, 2004.

Do Andy and Vincent have the password? I'm on my old computer ready to shutdown, so I will have to send them the password tomorrow.

.................

-- rod (elreyrod@yahoo.com), September 15, 2004.

rod, I sent it to Andy. I don't know Vincent's email.

-- Emily ("jesusfollower7@yahoo.com), September 15, 2004.

tell Vincent at the Catholic forum if he wants the password to e-mail you.

-- Elpidio Gonzalez (egonval@yahoo.com), September 15, 2004.

Thanks all! I made it. Anyone else who needs it? I'd be happy to email them. What about Jim F?

-- Andy S ("ask3332004@yahoo.com"), September 16, 2004.

I see Jim made it on another thread. I'm slow.

-- Andy S ("ask3332004@yahoo.com"), September 16, 2004.

I'm back, Thanks for your support. I have a busy schedule, so it will take a while to get back into the swing of things.

BTW, Gail, I probably do have a cat just like yours;) That is where stinkcat comes from.

-- James (stinkcat_14@hotmail.com), September 16, 2004.

Welcome back, James.

David did not object to my plan of finding a middle ground.

He may be out for 3 months or more. I don't know if he will ever be as active as he was before. I don't know either how much of a changed man he will be by that time.

In the meantime, Emily and Zarove would be your guides when I am not on.

Peace!

-- Assistant Moderator (egoonval@yahoo.com), September 16, 2004.

Elpidio, David never made me a moderator at this forum, only at Ezboard. I don't know any of the information regarding the links or passwords for managing this board. I'm not sure how it all works and I may need some instruction on this matter, if you would like me to serve as co-moderator. Thanks.

James, welcome back!!

-- Emily ("jesusfollower7@yahoo.com), September 17, 2004.

Welcome back, James, and yes . . . I do have a cat like your's, and he's an "outside cat" now!!

Gail

-- Gail (Rothfarms@socket.net), September 17, 2004.
