Possible ACL varnish sighting in Miami

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ACL and SAL Railroads Historical Society : One Thread

In the FEC yard directly west of Miami Airport, two heavyweight carbodies minus their trucks are sitting on flat cars in very rough condition. One is definitely an ex-ARMY hospital car, possibly a former ACL dormitory car. The other looks similar but seems not to have a baggage door. Any ideas? Thanks.

Bob, could both of the cars that you saw be from the Gold Coast Railroad Museum? I had heard that the Museum was using space in the FEC Yard to undertake repair/restoration work on some of their recent acquisitions.

A contact with the Museum could confirm/rule out this possibility.

Best wishes!
