How do you go from head to heart with Mary, the Saints, Guardian Angels?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Catholic : One Thread

Hi,

Recently I have been intrigued with how many of my fellow Catholics have a thriving relationship with Mary, their Guardian Angel, and the Saints. I have usually only been on "buddy -buddy" terms with God the Father and Jesus, but I wnat to get to know some of God's helpers more. It just has been easier for me to pray to God and recognize Him in my life. I have learned about the saints, Mary & my guardian angel all my life but never had a personal relationship with them that has been substantial. How do you go from head to heart on this?

Dear Joe,

It is so great that you have a close relationship with the Father and with Jesus. May it continue to thrive, because when you have God (Father, Son, Holy Spirit), you have *everything*. Continue to love and honor the God who created and loves you!

But it is good we are part of a family, the "Communion of Saints" on earth and in heaven also. Like the many stars that shine on the earth in the night sky, they bathe us with the light and love and prayers God has given them.

At the cross, Jesus our Lord gave His dear mother to be our mother also, in the person of the beloved disciple: "Dear woman, behold your son." I would recommend learning the 15 mysteries of the Rosary and meditating on these events of Christ's life that intersect also with Mary's life. Realize that she shaped his earthly life so much, and surrendered herself totally to His will: and He continues to love her as well. Once you are thinking about those meditations, you can add the prayers to it (Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be) and, voila! you are saying the Rosary. That should help you know Mary better.

Meanwhile, rejoice that you know God so well! I wish more people did.

Cordially,
