atheists , believers , nihilists , non believers , we're all different or .... ??

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Ask Jesus : One Thread

If I may express myself about my vision on religion , I'm not an atheist , not a nihilist or a believer , I just don't like religion , and I really don't believe in that heavenly leader & son , 'cause I see it as an invention created by mankind !!!! __ I'm calling myself , concerning the subject religion , a non believer !!

There are so many people , everyone has another opinion on a lot of things !! __ Still: Respect has to come from both sides !!

My questions:

Why some religious people can't stand people who don't believe ??

Why some non-religious people can't stand people who believe ??

Why some people (just) don't (wanna) listen to eachother ??

Why all people has another opinion on a lot of things ??

Salut & Cheers from a NON BELIEVER:

Human nature. Many times those who are most venhemous are also insecurte in their own positions. I have debated many Atheists for istace who attack religion, and always do they turn it into a personal attakc on me. They do this because they need to feel superior.

The same is said of those who beleive and attack nonbeleivers, they just need to feel superior.

Human issue relaly.

It is easy for me to be "nice" with people, until I am honest with them. Then, they tend to play superior to me. This forum allows us to say what we mean and mean what we say. In person, great wars would happen. People don't like being told that their beliefs are wrong. It is like pulling the carpet from under them. Truth hurts.

I think its all based in our "tribal" instincts.

This could also be part of human nature, as Zarove mentioned,, but perhaps we are more stubborn than we realize.

personal example: the belief that the church is raptured 7 years before the return of Christ. To me, I can see perfectly clear the reasons for this to be wrong. They are set in scripture. The belief in such is Preposterous!! How can someone be so foolish as to follow that! IT is so clear and "They" refuse to see it.

or maybe i'm not seeing...

What I mean is that they're position is absolutely the same, the other way around. I'm the fool! How can I not see what they see?

Our minds can be set so strongly, sometimes i believe without even self-realization, that we as Christians to Christians, and to non- believers, see everyone else as ignorant.
