TV trivia that has been driving me crazy

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Beyond the Sidewalks : One Thread

I remember a man dressed as an Austrailian, holding an Emu puppet and talking about Austrailia. If he would say something wrong, the "Emu" would look at him, then peck at his face. Does anyone remember this? What was it on? My son says he remembers it so it had to be during his lifeline (17 yrs) although it could have been a repeat of something too.

Gosh, Dee; I don't remember anything like that, but it's been several years since I really watched TV. Was it a commercial or a show, do you think?

Was that the inspiration for Afflack (or whatever that is?) with the duck? Sorry, don't remember that at all!

There is a big gap in my teevee viewing history. I watched some shows in the 50s (all the kid's cowboy shows, "Mickey Mouse Club")and 60s (lots of stuff like "where the action is", "hullabaloo", "shindig" "smothers brothers" "that was the week that was", and the Beatles on Ed Sullivan; a very view things in the 70s("saturday night live") and 80s (really don't remember much, maybe "dallas" altough I think I was them later as re-runs), more PBS- type stuff in the 90s, and now I guess about the same as the 90s....so I might know some early teevee trivia, but probably not anything too close to recent or in between.

Curious stuff, that Aussie and the bird, though.

I don't know if it was a Satuday Night Live or Seseme Street type show. That's what is bugging me so much about it. Guess I need a bigger group to ask, huh?

Gosh, Dee...I don't remember that guy at all! My TV viewing runs along the same timeline as Sheepish's. Although a really BIG thing in my life was when I was on the "Boomtown" stage in the early 60's :-)!!! Does anyone else remember that show?? I still have the newspaper clipping of my "brownie" troop's visit there.

Are you talking about the British comic Rod Hull and Emu? Sadly he died in 1999. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/298801.stm

That doesn't look like the person I'm remembering. The Emu looked different too. I wonder if it was a spinoff. I'll look again later but don't think it was him. Thanks.
