On October 10, we members of the Catholic Church family honor, in a special way, the following friends of God -- "saints" and "blesseds" whose souls are now in heaven:

St. Aldericus of the Gatinais (French, Benedictine monk, archbishop of Sens, died at about age 51 in 841)
Sts. Cassius, Florentius, and seven companions, of Bonn (soldiers, martyred in Germany in 303)
St. Cerbonius of Verona (Italian, bishop, c. 400)
St. Cerbonius of Piombino (North African, bishop in Italy, c. 580)
St. Clarus of Nantes (French, bishop)
St. Daniel Comboni of Limone sul Garda [Daniele] (Italian, priest, missionary, teacher, founder of a religious congregation that came to be called "Comboni Missionaries" or "Sons of the Sacred Heart," died in Sudan at age 50 in 1881 [beatified 1996, canonized 2003])
Bl. Edward Detkens of Mokotow (Polish, diocesan priest, martyred by Nazis at Linz [Austria] four days before his 57th birthday in 1942 [beatified 1999])
Sts. Eulampius and Eulampia of Nicomedia (from Asia Minor [now called Turkey], young brother and sister, martyred c. 310)
St. Francis Borgia y Aragón of Gandía [Francisco de Borja] (Spanish, nobleman, father of eight, widower, Jesuit Superior General, died at age 61 on September 30 in 1572 [beatified 1624, canonized 1670])
St. Fulk of Fontenelle (French, Benedictine abbot, d. 845)
St. Gereon and companions (martyred c. 302)
St. Gonzalo of Las Junias [Gonçalo] (Portuguese, Cistercian prior, c. 1163)
Bl. Hugh of Mâcon [Hugues] (French, Cistercian abbot, bishop of Auxerre, d. 1151)
Sts. Hugolinus [Hugolino], Samuel [Samuele], Angel [Angelo or Angeluccio], Domno [or Donulo], Leon [Leone], Nicholas [Niccola], and Daniel [Daniele] (Italian, Franciscan missionaries, martyred in Morocco [beheaded by Moslems who attempted forced conversions] in 1221 [canonized 1516])
Bl. Leon Wetmanski of Zuromin (Polish, auxiliary bishop of Plock, martyred by Nazis at Dzialdowo [Poland] at age 55 in 1941 [beatified 1999])
St. Maharsapor (Persian [Iranian], nobleman, martyred by starving in 421, after three years of torture)
St. Patrician (Scottish, bishop, 5th century)
St. Paulinus of York (Italian, Benedictine missionary in England, bishop, died at about age 60 in 644)
St. Paulinus of Capua (British, pilgrim to Jerusalem, bishop in Italy, d. 843)
St. Pinytus of Knossos (Cretan, bishop, c. 181)
St. Tranca of Troyes (French, martyred defending her virginity c. 637)
St. Victor and 330 companions, of Xanten (soldiers, martyred c. 286)
