The narrators in each of these reflect man’s inner struggle with conscience, death or loss.

The narrator distracts us with the central story and OTHER character(raven, Ligeia, Annabel Lee) from the fact that it is all about the narrator himself. After all, the narrator puts meaning into the Raven, Ligeia is dead as is Annabel a long tiime since. The narrator has a dynamic tragic memory which sweeps up the reader behind his eyesThis illusion does the trick of making us receive the story(of the Narrator) as an undercurrent, even almost seeing the supernatural at work(which it isn't)so feel the excitement, experience the emotion of the narrator, but forget what is actually going on.
