How does a military lose 380 tons of bombs?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : A.M.E. Today Discussion : One Thread

Somebody explain this to me. How do you lose 380 TONS of weapons? First, you go to war over weapons of mass destruction that are not there and then lose 380 tons of weapons at an identified former military site. Will someone straighten me out as to how this happens. I can only see total incompetence.

Mary -

Have you read the IAEA's report in its entirety? Or, are you relying soley on press clipings? It appears you agree with Senator Kerry that gross negligence and incompetence are the only political interpretations. By making charges of Preseidential incompetence Kerry and his fellow critics are also implicating the US military as well. Having once worked closely with DoD/JCS officials I am not inclined to rush to such a judgement. QED

Mary, the enemy hides 380 tons of explosives. These were part of the Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMDs). In order to explode a nuclear weapon (WMD) it must be triggered by a High Explosive device to slam the nuclear components together fast enough to create a critical mass and begin the reaction. That was the purpose of the 380 Tons of High Explosives. So we may not have found completed WMDs but we did find some of the pieces.
