I am working on my MSN in nursing education and I am proposing a research for my comprehensive exam on increasing diverity in urban community colleges. I am planning to use Lenininger`s theory on Transcultural and Caring . My question is : By using the Theory in the classroom by the faculty increase diversity? Also what instrument can I use for the study. Rosie

Applying the concepts of Lenininger`s theory in the classroom would raise cultural awareness and have a positive outcome on the learning experience. All groups and individuals within groups benefit from understanding and affirming diversity. As to increasing diversity, this could be a secondary effect, If the learning institution can offer and demonstrate cultural sensitivity and awareness it would follow that more cultural diverse students will be enticed to attend.

You will need to assess or measure the level of cultural competency of both students and faculty before and after.
