Bus and Track Feeder Wiring

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Wiring for DCC : One Thread

I am in the process of wiring my layout and am doing so w/12 gauge copper wire for the bus wires. Track feeders are 20 gauge solid but it is silver and not copper. The hobby shop I deal w/just had silver wire as well as a mail order electronics store. My local hardware store does not carry this or a close gauge wire at all. Does it make any difference if the track feeder wire is copper or silver and if so how much and where can I get 20 gauge solid copper wire???

Thanx for anyones help in this matter.

The "silver" colored wire is probably tin plated copper. This is perfectly OK and actually preferred to use as it will remain clean for soldering much better than raw copper wire. DonV
