[A prayer by St. Charles Borromeo:]
Almighty God, Thou hast generously made known to human beings the mysteries of Thy life through Jesus Christ Thy Son in the Holy Spirit. Enlighten my mind to know these mysteries which Thy Church treasures and teaches.
Move my heart to love them and my will to live in accord with them. Give me the ability to teach this Faith to others without pride, without ostentation, and without personal gain. Let me realize that I am simply Thy instrument for bringing others to the knowledge of the wonderful things Thou hast done for all Thy creatures. Help me to be faithful to this task Thou hast entrusted to me. Amen.

If you have anything to share about these holy people, please reply now -- biographical episodes, prayers through their intercession, the fact that one is your patron -- whatever moves you. If you are interested in one of these saints or blesseds and want to find out more about him/her, please ask. Additional information is sometimes available on the Internet.

All you holy men and women, saints of God, pray for us.
God bless you.
John

John,

Thank you for sharing. When I saw the name St. Charles Borromeo, it caught my eye, because that is the site for my favorite Catholic Catechism site online. If you go to the main site, you will find information from St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. On the left sidebar for that page, you will see a link called "The Saint." If you click there, you can read about the man.

From the site: "Charles Borromeo was a active defender and promoter of the Catechism of the Catholic Church."

Thus, I found it fitting that you included this prayer from him, listed above. I am not at all surprised that such a man would write:

Give me the ability to teach this Faith to others without pride, without ostentation, and without personal gain. Let me realize that I am simply Thy instrument for bringing others to the knowledge of the wonderful things Thou hast done for all Thy creatures. Help me to be faithful to this task Thou hast entrusted to me. Amen.

Among other things, St. Charles was active in preaching and bringing lapsed Catholics back to the Church.

St. Charles, please pray for all those who have gone away from the Church, that God would draw them back to Him.

Thanks so much, Emily, for posting your message.
I use the "borromeo" Catechism site too! I formerly used the "ChristusRex" search engine, but it stopped functioning properly.
