Why Should We Avoid Wearing Scary Costumes?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Ask Jesus : One Thread

Little kids dressed in vampire outfits, zombies, monsters, and axe murders--what's the harm? It seems like just a little innocent fun.

What exactly is going on with those scary costumes that parents are not aware of?

BTW, my kids dressed as Joe Satriani and a princess for the school festivities.

Joe Satriani. I hadn't heard that name, or his work in a long time.

It was my 9 year old's idea.

Hmmm,Zarove? I can only think of three possible wizards--Merlin, The Wizard of Oz, and Mickey Mouse The Sorcerer.

Oh, Let's not forget the Wizard of Wisconsin--Lester Polfuss, a.k.a. Les Paul.

Little kids like to dress like monsters and scary things. THey always have. It gives a sence of power over the ominous things life offers. Ultimately makes kids fears a little easier to live with ---those fantasy fears are eventually transformed into the true horrors we adults face and worry about in everyday life.

Anyway, I see no harm.

I always chose a scary costume. The scarier the better!

Why wear costumes at all? Isnt halloween supposed to be the devils night? If so, why participate. Do something fun with your children, take them to the circus or something else!!

There you have tha theme again. World alludes to it. In another thread, I mentioned that some kids have to me that Halloween is the Devil's Birthday. I sens some kind of flawed satanolgical perpetuations here. The Angel named Satan was not born at all.

Isnt halloween supposed to be the devils night?

actually, halloween is all hallows eve, the night before the christian celebration of all saints day (november 1). Again, the perverse occurances that surround all hallows eve are merely attempts by satan to corrupt that which is good.
